Local Rules

The Rules of Golf as approved by The R&A Limited and the USGA apply to all play, except so far as they are modified by the following Local Rules:

1.Out of bounds (Rule 18)

• On or beyond the public roads running beside the 6^th, 8^th, 13^th, 14^th, 15^th and 18^th
• If a ball is on or crosses the road on the 1^st, 2nd or 3^rd
• The triangle of ground formed by the Luton and Exeter to Teignmouth roads to the left of the 15^th
• The course-side edge of the road defines the boundary of the course.

2. Penalty Areas (Rule 17)

• When playing the 12^th and 15^th holes, the yellow penalty areas (ditches), the paths are not a part of the yellow penalty areas. If a player does not know whether his or her ball is in a penalty area, the player may play a provisional ball using any of the following relief options: stroke-and distance, back-on-the-line or, if it is a red penalty area, the lateral relief option (Rule 17.1d) or using the dropping zone available for this penalty area.
• As an extra relief option for the penalty area to the rear of the 17^th green adding one penalty stroke, a player may drop a ball in one of the dropping zones marked by a white line. The dropping zone is a relief area under Rule 14.3.

3. Power Lines (Rule 14)

• If it known or virtually certain that a player’s ball hit a power line during the play of the 18^th hole, the stroke does not count. The player must play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made, for clarification see Rule 14.6.
• Additionally, if a ball strikes the Warning Notice at the public road crossing the 12^th and 15^th fairway, it must be replayed without penalty.

4. Immovable Obstructions (Rule 16)

• Public roads within the boundary of the course, including the road crossing on the 12^th and 15^th
• All constructed paths within the course boundary including the service track at the 17^th and 18^th
• Fixed sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions and relief from interference by them may be obtained under Rule 24-2(b). In addition, if the ball lies off the putting green but not in a hazard and such obstruction is on or within two club lengths of the putting green and within two club lengths of the ball, intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief as follows:
• The ball shall be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay (i) is not nearer the hole, (ii) avoids such intervention and (iii) is not in a hazard or on a putting green.
• Free relief to be taken if your ball is sitting on flint on the 1^st

5. Dangerous Situations

• A suspension of play for a dangerous situation will be signalled by one prolonged klaxon note. All other suspensions will be signalled by three klaxon notes. In either case, resumption of play will be signalled by two klaxon notes.

6. Health and Safety

• All golfers are required to abide by the health and safety rules of the Club at all times.
